[Breathe with me: life happens in between plans]

I am interrupting What it means to be Black series, as this is a very challenging time for us all.
It seems like Mother Earth is tired and has decided to send all her kids back to their rooms.
To think deeply about what we've done.
Again and again. And come back with a better solution to treat Her better.
There is no escape to us.
I know this time is scary. For me, this time has made me way more quiet. And has made me think about what kind of impact I want to have on people around me.
As much as I feel powerless right now, I hope this helps. To center yourself for just a few minutes, away from the anxiety and the fear.
I think about all of you.
We are all in this together.

What it means to be Black - #1 The rage inward

This is the first episode of a series called "What it means to be Black".

I’ve learned it the hard way:

deep rage is not about them.

It’s about nobody seeing me.

nobody ever saw me

nobody hears me

and now i face alone this lie, that is my life that’s deep rage.

#8 Unfinished lines//Melanin is the warmest color

"The walls were brown, just like you and me.

I don't remember the ideas we introduced to one another, we abandoned them before they reached anything resembling a conclusion like the clothes on the floor.

Our dads did the same with us,

so why should we care?

why wouldn't it be two girls bringing up the world. At this age already, guys only bring good dick and jokes, if we lucky"

#7 Decolonizing myself from you

"Every time I come home and take off my clothes, I have to fight you out of my mind. I have to find my way back to my inner truth and shed you off of me.

When I see you gliding off my skin, when i finally face me, I wonder, what is this difference that you care so much about? Or why can't you celebrate my difference with me?

I've faced my self time and time again.

I see clear now. I won't try to conform to please you."

#6 Higher is warmer

Diclaimer: this episode is about mental health, depression.

"When I became obsessed with filling space and stopped sharing tears, that’s when I started losing sleep. Clouds never do so.

I always wondered if I exchanged lens with a cloud, would everything look smaller or sadder?

I thought, twice, if the earth is too cold for my cracked windows, higher is warmer."

I feel home where the bird sings #4 - Can I Belong?

This episode is the fourth and last episode of a series called "I feel home where the bird sings", entirely recorded in South Africa.
In this episode, I discuss feeling home when you are of mixed heritage.

"From the colonized to the colonizer land.
Being other, in a different way, it depends where you apprehend (me).
There, I was other here I am too, for opposite reasons.
Maybe it’s the fate of the migrant, too. Stuck in transitions, lost in multiple identities and always asked to which I wish to hold on to."

I feel home where the bird sings - Jeffrey's Bay's Celebration

DISCLAIMER about disturbing content: This episode involves sexual assault. It might be very upsetting for some of you, so please take care of you.

This episode is the third episode of a series called "I feel home where the bird sings", entirely recorded in South Africa.

In this episode, I discuss sexual assault and especially the silence and shame that perpetuates and facilitates the rape culture we live in.

(...) so many of us, womxn and femmes, have to choose between facing another silent death or speak up, and put our life on the line.

Every time I refuse this silent death, I have to remind myself, I am not trying to get by, I am trying to get free. And still live in peace in between. I am just trying to get free."

I feel home where the bird sings # 2 - Soweto - Can I Be Free ?

This episode is the second episode of a series called "I feel home where the bird sings", entirely recorded in South Africa.

In this episode, I question our capacity to be free from the most destructive social constructs, race and gender.

"I will ALWAYS open the door for you, sister. Besides loving being a gentlewoman, I actively believe in gallantry, so I will always make a point to let you through first, sister.
I know what it's like, to be a Black Woman in a white man's world."
Sisters, I see you.

I feel home where the bird sings # 1 - Joburg - Can I Be Me ?

This episode is the first episode of a series called "I feel home where the bird sings", entirely recorded in South Africa.

"Travelling to foreign lands means traveling within.
Discovering lands always turns into the discovery of a part of yourself, a part you might be unaware of, or a part you decided to ignore.
I decided to travel SA for a month.
Some people collect pictures and souvenirs, I also collect sounds just like memories."

In this episode, I question the idea of self, and its indeniable consequence (or cause?) on relationships with Other.

#5 Queer Futures

"Nothing can go untouched, and in time all will be revealed" - Kelsey Lu.

The biggest mistake Humans do is not realising that true heaven is planet Earth.

#4 Doors

Berlin.
Where even the sun bails on you and exhibitions turn into techno parties.

How many doors do we walk through every day, how many worlds do we explore after leaving our own?

Beautiful song by Markus Spitta.

#3 There Was Life...

"All things were together. Then the mind came and arranged them" - Anaxagoras

Now that the light is fading, maybe I'll stop looking at the day grow old, it's young somewhere else.

#2 Dreams

"The road up and the road down is one and the same." - Heraclitus, Fragments

What do you think of, when you're about to drift off to the other worlds... late at night... what do you think of?

Listen to this tribute with headphones and close your eyes.
Sweet dreams.

#1 Dear Anger

what's left, when you leave me Anger?

The first episode I wrote and produced is about my relationship to anger.
